Shibari boudoir session with Maddie

This is from a minimalist Shibari session I did with Maddie at my studio in Los Angeles. When I work with people, I try to give only as much direction as necessary, and create space for their personality to shine through. Maddie brought an elegant and soulful feeling, that seemed to convey sadness and distance. Of course, she also has a sense of humor, as you see in the last shot. While these were done several years ago, I often come back to them when I’m reviewing my older work. I’m drawn to the ambiguous look in her eyes, as well as the delicate posing, and the softness of the light and deep shadows that sculpt the shapes of her body, such as her shoulder blades and hands in the second photo. If you are reminded of the way the light strikes a crescent moon, then I am glad.
