Dia de los Muertos

I hope you all had a happy halloween, and now, a happy Día de Los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead for my friends who are less familiar with Latin American culture. It is a celebration and remembrance of the lives of those who have passed, and its roots are a combination of indigenous Aztec traditions with Catholic influence. Much like the celebrations of Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and even Valentine's Day, it is a combination of cultures. Just as it is for remembering the past, the holiday itself echoes the culture and traditions going back centuries and possibly millenia, passed down, changing slightly over time yet holding true to the feeling. Time is fleeting friends, hold close in your hearts the ones you love, where ever they may be.
