Shibari with Ryan

One cliche I’ve heard a lot is “everything has been photographed already.” Sunsets? Done. Landscapes? Ancient history. Flowers? Skate punks? Nudes? Dogs? You better believe it. Do you want to be original? Don’t bother trying!

How silly. Imagine walking into a vast library, stocked with all the great writers through history from around the world... Imagine walking in there, taking a good look at all those books, and thinking, “Well, all the good books have already been written!” No point writing romantic tragedy, Shakespeare covered whatever the ancient Greeks missed.

Of course anything that can be looked at has probably been photographed, but its the expression that matters. Even my work with my dear friend Ryan, who I have known and been photographing since we met in college, continues to change and grow, just as we do. Each time, better than the last.

So it’s been shot before— that’s just something to keep improving on and growing with.
